joinDota League (jDL) | A Free, Global Dota League For All Players.

Yesterday, joinDota announced there own Dota league called JoinDota League or jDL for short. After hosting 26 open tournaments in 2013, they felt that it is time to branch out and create their own. The original post can be found of the joindota website: http://www.joindota.com/en/news/14759-joindota-league-global,-for-everyone/&comment_page=2#comments

The joinDota league was inspired by Dota-League, a place for European amateur and semi-pro teams can compete. After in shut down in 2011, many players have been looking for an alternative and joinDota decided to fill the gap.

The joinDota League will comprise of an unlimited number of teams, each being put into division and set out to play between others in their division. The number of divisions will depend of the number of participants into the league.

How it works is simple. Every team is put into a starter division. They are put into a group of teams (mostly likely ten) and are set out to perform a round robin format. The winners will essentially move up, while losers will mostly like stay in the division or have some sort of movement themselves, whether it be up, down or a change of divisions. Division 1, The Premier Division is where the best teams will be competing against each other  for not only the top spot of the joinDota league, but also for prize money. Only teams in division 1 have a chance to receive prize money if they are the winner of the season.

The joinDota league will be available for everyone, no matter their skill level, location or occupation. There will be 3 different leagues split to avoid time zones issues. These three regions will be split into America, Asia and Europe. Although, some divisions will experience local play and some parts of the league and going to be more regional than the others. Division 1 and 2 will be purely international so every team gets the chance to play other teams from the only countries/leagues.

As explained before, anyone can sign up for the league and there are an unlimited amount of slots. You must however sign up before January 26 and you only have to go through a simple 5 step process (as well as your teammates) in order to be fully signed up.

Other Info:
“A few known teams will be picked to directly start out in high divisions. In Europe, where we expect the most participants, we will fill Division 1 and 2, maybe even Division 3 right away. In America and Asia it might only be Division 1, depending on the numbers. Everyone else will be put into the starter division. The results in this starter division will decide about each team’s destination for season 2. The number of divisions in each league is going to constantly grow throughout the first year, and will then stay quite consistent. Some details will not be decided until we know the exact number of participants.”
